Windows Mail (Fig. 1) is Windows Vista's replacement for Outlook Express and comes free with Windows Vista.

To add a new email account to Windows Mail:

  • Open Windows Mail
  • Click on the Tools menu and select the Accounts option
  • Click on Email Account
  • Click Next

Your Name

  • In the Display Name field, type the name you want to use. This is the name that will be displayed when you send someone an email - typical examples include your full name, or the name of your organisation.
  • Click Next

Internet E-mail Address

  • Type your full email address (e.g. username@domain.com.au) in the Email Address field
  • Click Next

Set up E-mail Servers

  • In the Incoming mail server field, enter mail.domain.com.au
  • In the Outgoing mail server field, enter mail.domain.com.au
  • Click Next

Internet Mail Logon

  • In the Email username field, type your full email address (e.g. for username@domain.com.au you would enter username)
  • In the Password field, enter the password for your email address
  • Click Next

Congratulations

  • Click the Finish button and your email account is ready to use
