The Spam Act 2003 defines spam as "unsolicited commercial electronic messages". This includes emails, mobile phone text messages (SMS), multimedia messages (MMS) and instant messaging (IM) that are of a commercial nature. Spam is a significant problem for many internet users but there are a number of ways by which spam can be minimised or eliminated.

Preventing Spam

MediaCloud Email Protection service can automatically scan and remove most spam from your inbox before it reaches your computer. This package is included with every hosting account.

Various third party applications for identifying and preventing spam can also be used as a secondary measure.

Reporting Spam from a MediaCloud Customer

To report spam that is originating from within our network, send all relevant details (e.g. mail headers) to support@mediacloud.com.au, along with a short explanation, and your report will be investigated.

Should you wish to follow up on a report you have submitted, please contact the same address.

Reporting Spam from a Non-MediaCloud Customer

Spam that appears to be originating from outside of our network should be reported to the other service provider. All email providers are required to have an address for reporting abuse of their systems, which is typically abuse@example.com.
