At 09:00 am 23/01/2023, the edge appliances in the MediaCloud network experienced a major flood attack across multiple network protocols.

To prevent degradation and ensure optimal security to internal services, the core security edge appliances locked down access to whitelisted IPs only. The attack continued for 2 hour(s), and upon mitigation, public access was restored.

We understand this process impacts clients and causes frustration. Please be assured these measures are in place for the protection and security of your services, especially given growing public concern over security breaches in the news. This attack did not make it past the edge security and client services continued to operate securely under restrictions.

Following this incident, we are now working with our security vendors to improve our threat mitigations process so it will be possible to maintain public access to client services during an attack of this scale.
